Now, to all those FRIENDS fans out there, no offence, FRIENDS is funnier and well nobody beats Chandler in sarcasm or Joey in innocence or Monica in winning or Rachel in fashion or well you get the point. Well, they even have an awesome title song.
However, there are so many things about HIMYM that FRIENDS lack. For instance, HIMYM has so many musicals and some of those songs are really nice. Also, you must agree on this 'Barney Stinson is awesome'. But, the most important thing is that HIMYM touches that emotional level that FRIENDS can't. There are so many episodes that make you cry. Like the one, where Ted buys the wrong house which turns out to be right for him or when he designs new GNB buildings or when Ted and Barney go lick the liberty bell and also, the numerous instances where he still believes in destiny even after his breakup. Now, where FRIENDS is a sitcom with every character getting proper screentime HIMYM is the story of Ted which makes it better. Also, the narrative style in which describes each and every event to his kids, well that's incredible.

Usually people see sitcoms just for timepass and not as something where they can learn. For all those , f.r.i.e.n.d.s would be better than HIMYM. For those who seek for messages in sitcoms i think HIMYM is better than fRIENDS.
